Abstract: | In Western societies problems with in-laws are multifaceted and often relate to issues of jealousy, competition, transference, displacement, poor distance/boundary regulation, and discrepant role expectations. Problems with in-laws, although sometimes based on real conflicts across generations, often represent problems in the dynamics of the couple and within the individual members of the couple. |
