Couples Relationships of AFDC Mothers

SUMMARY

Virtually nothing is known about AFDC mothers and their relationships with their male friends. Yet such men are clearly an influence in their lives. Findings from a sample of 275 Baltimore AFDC mothers provide important exploratory data about the characteristics of these relationships and about how women who have a long-term male friend differ from AFDC mothers who do not. Implications for work with these couples are also presented.
