The Negative Effect of Hidden Curriculum in Medical Ethics Education and Its Countermeasures

In addition to formal medical ethics courses, there are also hidden curriculum which have important influence on the moral development of medical students. Without improper guidance, the hidden curriculum will bring negative effects on the ethical quality, values and behaviors of medical students, resulting in inconsistency between medical ethics education and clinical practice. To improve medical ethics education, the existence of hidden curriculum should be clarified and emphasized. To eliminate its negative effects, we need to strengthen the dissemination of ethical culture and values in formal medical education, give full play to the positive role of hidden curriculum, and systematically design and dialectically use the influence of hidden curriculum on the role shaping of doctors.
