Abstract: | The psychological functioning of 29 women who had successfully prevented conception during four years after an induced abortion was studied, focusing on those who were using less effective contraception methods and who were less regular and responsible in birth control, i.e. who were "subtly" unreliable in the use of contraception. These women were found to be less compentent also in their work, to have a lower emotional stability and self-esteem, to be less realistic about life and to have a less satisfying sexual relationship with less open communication.
