| Abstract: | A gas-chromatic method for detection of phytanic acid (3,7,11,15-tetramethylhexadecanoic acid) in serum is described. The sensitivity of the method is very high. It is easy to distinguish between patients with Refsum's disease and those with other polyneuropathies. |
