On the Methodology of Environmental Psychology

This paper investigates the development,characteristics and research approaches of environmental psychology. The authors point out that environmental psychology, which holds hohstic, interaction and systematic multidisciplinary perspectives, insists problem- centered opinion on the essence of science,explanatory framework of interaction and research paradigm of nature field which focus on physical environments,fol- lows the research line of multi - analysis that from individual through organization to society, and then criticizes and passes the traditional psy- chological methodology in many respects. Environmental psychology successively experienced interactional, organic and transactional approaches, and put forward the development of scientific psychology.
