Abstract: | Three experiments are reported in which subjects read and recalled two paragraphs of text which could be consistently related, inconsistent or unrelated. Recall biasses associated with directly primed inconsistency are described (Experimen I) and they are dependent upon attempts to integrate the whole text (Experiment II). The biasses are attributed to editing processes occurring during acquisition (Experiment III). |
