Primary psychological intervention with families of earthquake survivors in armenia

Abstract

We studied the impact of the December 1988 earthquake on children and their families in Armenia, USSR. Important cultural characteristics affected symptom presentation and treatment strategies. In this paper we discuss the impact of Armenian culture, particularly the way children reflect the status of their parents, on treatment interventions.
