Advances in Transdiagnostic Research on Cognitive Processes of Social Anhedonia

Social anhedonia exhibits extensive transdiagnostic and subclinical features, including loneliness, introversion, social anxiety, and impatiemments of social functioning. Traditional medical models focus on the diagnosis and neurophysiological mechanisms of mental diseases related to social anhedonia, promoting pharmacological and neuro-targeted treatments. However, social anhedonia is widespread in healthy people and subclinical people, and effective psychological counseling and treatment options need to be explored to alleviate social anhedonia and enhance social functioning in subclinical populations. The cognitive process model focuses on the positive valence system, and emphasizes the improvement of cognitive processes such as attention, memory, mental imagery, and other processes toward positive rewarding stimuli. It will be an effective approach for psychological counseling and treatments of social anhedonia.
