Abstract:Evidence-based medicine has sparked innovation and revolution in the field of medicine, and its principles have been applied to form evidence-based public health in the public health domain. The global outbreaks of various new and recurrent infectious diseases in the 21st century have posed challenges to the application of evidence-based concepts. High-risks research environments, complex interventions, scarcity of evidence, difficulties in study design, and the need to establish procedures and generate recommendations under highly uncertainty and urgency require the adaptation and expansion of evidence-based methodology to address infectious disease issues. Innovative evidence-based practice tools, such as the Six-step Rapid Risk Assessment Methodology, the AGREE Ⅱ, and the Global Evidence-based Resource Database for Infectious Diseases have been developed to meet the special requirements of infectious disease prevention and control.
Keywords:evidence-based concepts  infectious disease prevention and control  uncertainty
