Abstract: | This is the second of two articles presenting a joint analysis of the adaptation and consistency effects. The first article emphasized that these two effects are related, essentially reciprocal phenomena that can best be accounted for in terms of practice. This second article, through a language-based analysis of the reading material used in the study, extends the integration achieved in the first article by identifying linguistic stress as the major dimension through which the effect of practice finds expression. |
