Abstract: | An appliance is described which is designed to control the self-injurious behavior of an autistic child. The appliance, which is worn like a bonnet or hat, delivers an adverse electric shock to the arm of the patient whenever the head is struck either by the patient himself or some extraneous inanimate object. Two methods of operating the switching mechanism and an inflatable, completely protective, device are also discussed. |
