The debate over nature and nurture in affecting a person's personality is one of the most controversial issues in developmental psychology. This paper introduces the debate to the readers from the theoretical perspective, discusses the details of the researches and related progress in developmental psychology and in behavioral genetics during the past two decades, and explores some future applications and researches as well as potential problems to be encountered in future studies.
