摘    要:这篇文章处理了递归的模式在印度艺术(印度寺庙建筑与梵文诗律)与印度数学中的重要作用。同时对于莱布尼兹序列(Leibniz series)的玛达瓦(Mādhava)推导做一个具体的形式化的重构,并为大卫·芒福德(David Mumford)的发现提供了证据,即在印度数学中递归是一个重要的证明方法。

Abstract:The present article deals with the prominent role of recursive patterns in Indian art (Hindu temple architecture and Sanskrit prosody) and in Indian mathematics. A detailed formal reconstruction of M~dhava's derivation of the Leibniz series provides evidence for David Mumford's observation that recursion is an important method of proof in Indian mathematics.
