Abstract: | Depersonalisation is a subjective state of unreality in which there is a feeling of estrangement, either from a sense of self or from the external environment. It can easily be overlooked by the helping professions because of its covert nature and because many people have difficulty describing it. The characteristics of the phenomenon are outlined, and possible therapeutic strategies are discussed. |
