Abstract: | It is widely believed that the quality of counselling will be improved if we multiply formal training programmes to teach it. There are certain implicit assumptions about the nature of skill, training, specialisation, supervision and the setting of standards which although hallowed by tradition cannot be taken for granted as appropriate to the learning of counselling. This paper aims to take a fresh look at them as a contribution to an on-going debate. |
