Abstract: | Human visual acuity was measured with rectangular-wave gratings that had duty cycles (the proportion of each grating period that is light) that varied from 0.020 to 0.975. When adaptation level is held constant, the results are consistent with the hypothesis that only the amplitude of the fundamental Fourier component is detected at threshold. |
