The Substance Abuse Counseling Needs of Women in the Criminal Justice System: A Needs Assessment Approach

Abstract:The authors assessed the substance abuse counseling needs of women in the criminal justice system using interviews (n = 304) and surveys (n = 1,170). On the basis of the results, the authors call for gender‐specific treatment as well as family‐oriented support for women who are mothers.
