| Abstract: | A few statistics referring to the psychiatric hospital of the Karl Marx University in Leipzig, which has taken over the function of a local psychiatric unit providing ward and semi-clinical treatment for the inhabitants of an urban district with 110,000 residents, are presented as an index of the work performed and success achieved by this sort of medical facility. The fact that full ward treatment with 64 beds is available is an important aspects. Transfers to specialized psychiatric hospitals are rare exceptions caused almost exclusively by a lack of in-house complementary facilities. |
