Abstract: | French-English bilinguals gave a greater number of identical associations when they responded to the same word twice than when they responded the second time to the translation of the first stimulus word, and more in the latter case than when the stimuli were synonyms, or one was a translation of a synonym of the other. These results are considered to reflect differences in the semantic overlap of the stimuli and not language-specific associative networks. |
