Prudence in The Twenty-first Philosophy

This is the second part of an article that outlines a vocabulary for developing a productive concept of prudence in respect to problems confronting both political actors and social theory. Prudential action requires coordination of normative, calculative, and performative modalities. This installment considers how these demands might cohere in agents, audiences, and postmodern social thought. Practical wisdom can be understood in terms of the nodular self, public deliberation, and the exhaustion of pedagogical and philosophical phases in the history of prudence.
