Abstract: | Some aspects of the experimental study of hormonally controlled sexually dimorphic behavior patterns are discussed, using results derived from research on rat and guinea pig sexual behavior as the model. The traditional concept that sex differences in behavior are due to differences in hormone sensitivity may be only partially correct and it is suggested that the sexes differ primarily in the extent to which their behavior is influenced by diurnal rhythm mechanisms. |
