Multidimensional Analysis of Personality Theories

Factor and cluster analyses of the matrix of ratings for 19 personality theories provided by Hall and Lindzey converged on a six-group solution. The treatment was designed to respect the ordinal nature of the rating data. Distinguishing characteristics of the groups were identified, and dangers inherent in overinterpreting the present findings were discussed.
