Abstract: | Many writers have implicitly or explicitly stated that nonparametric tests are free from the assumption of homogeneity of variance. Nonparametric tests for difference in central tendencies generally involve the assumption of homogeneity of variance. The assumption of homogeneity of variance for the t test and for nonparametric tests serves the same purpose: it allows the user to draw more specific inferences when the null hypothesis is rejected. |
