The Case for Consultation

The evolution of new practices designed to extend professional mental health services by not limiting the helping professions to a traditional one-to-one relationship has led to the use of consultation with other caretaking persons. This technique is discussed and its relationship to counseling, particularly in the elementary schools, is explored. The practices evolved during the IRRCOPS project at Texas and at NDEA Institute are described.
