Affiliation: | Robert L. Allen is a teacher, author, and activist, and he served as an editor of The Black Scholar from 1972 until 2012. For eighteen years he was an adjunct professor of African American studies and ethnic studies at the University of California, Berkeley. A graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, where he was active in the civil rights movement, he earned a PhD in sociology from UCSF. His best-known book is The Port Chicago Mutiny: The Story of the Largest Mass Mutiny Trial in U.S. Naval History. A new book by Allen is forthcoming from Paradigm Publishers on the life and work of C. L. Dellums, a national leader of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters union. |
