Abstract:The authors conducted a series of studies to validate the factor structure of the English version of the Need for Cognition-Short Form (NFC-SF; J. T. Cacioppo, R. E. Petty, & C. F. Kao, 1984) in a U.S. Hispanic sample. Study 1 is an exploration of the factor structure in 238 Hispanic and relationships between gender and acculturation. Analyses in Study 2 confirmed the factor structure from the sample in Study 1 in a group of 185 U.S. Hispanics. Results indicated that the English version of the NCS-SF has a one-factor structure and is reliable for use with U.S. Hispanics.
