Emotion in Childbirth

This paper looks at the emotions of bringing a child into the world. It addresses the psychological observations that childbearing can involve notable emotional upheaval for both a woman and her partner. It shows that Jews have long accepted the heightened emotions of childbearing as normal; moreover, they have found ways of expressing and channeling their anxieties and happiness, giving them a constructive spirituality.
