Abstract: | Two predictions are made regarding the nature of pupil personnel services in general and counseling in particular in the next 20 to 30 years. The first prediction is based upon the increasing automation of teaching and points out the importance of personalized pupil personnel services in the automated school. The second prediction anticipates a reaction against automated teaching, resulting in a revolution in education in which the major subject matter of the school will be a fourth R, human relations. The implications for pupil personnel services and counseling are considered. |
