Abstract: | Readers' theater activities may help children with reading problems gain oral reading fluency and confidence. In the present study, the author describes how readers' theater opportunities were included in a tutorial for elementary students facing serious reading problems. Results demonstrate that readers' theater can be successfully integrated into a broader, multi-faceted tutorial. Positive benefits of readers' theater preparation and practice were seen on readers' theater performance and, especially, on reading affect. Classroom implications concerning using readers' theater in other instructional contexts are also presented. |
