Body image and drug addiction

Drawings of the inside of the body produced by 83 drug addicts were analyzed. For 75 men and 8 women, aged 18 to 30 years, their graphic productions were compared with those of children and adolescents without addiction problems. Results indicate that while children and adolescents represent anatomical parts, drug addicts tend to use the drawing to express their psychological difficulties using various metaphorical forms.
