Abstract:A case of pathological food avoidance in a 12-year-old female is described in terms of learning theory principles. A relevant behavioral treatment was immediately successful in resolving the disorder and re-establishing normal eating habits. Follow-up five months after termination of treatment indicated that neither relapse nor symptom substitution had occurred.
