| Abstract: | Shamanic studies in the West has gone through several phases, from demonizing or seeing shamans as swindler, through psychopathologizing, universalizing, idealizing to diversifying Shamanism. The paper discusses characteristics of these different phases and reflects on the historical study of Shamanism. |
