| Abstract: | There had been a long history of missionary work in China. Along with preaching, the missionaries set up many clinics,hospitals and Christian medical universities and their activities accelerated the spread and development of western medicine in China and cultivated lots of western medicine doctors. Drawing lessons from foreign structure of management, they afforded a new mode to medical education. They developed doctors' professional ethics and improved people's health. They established the medical system of rural areas, and promoted the beginning of public health enterprise. They made contributions to the development of Chinese modern medicine. |
