Abstract:This study is an investigation of the moderating role of subordinate authoritarianism in the relationship between cross-level (i.e., supervisor and subordinate) extrarole (i.e., outside of work) activities and job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behaviors. Low authoritarian subordinates reported greater job satisfaction than high authoritarian subordinates when they participated in off-the-job activities with supervisors. The implications of this research are discussed.
