Abstract:The reliabilities of Helms' People of Color Racial Identity Attitude Scale and White Racial Identity Attitude Scale when used with a sample of master's counseling students were explored for modified versions. Reliabilities were assessed using Cronbach alpha as a measure of internal consistency, and temporal stabilities were measured. Results were consistent with previous findings, with coefficients alpha ranging from .67 to .77 for the modified People of Color Racial Identity Attitude Scale, and from .36 to .84 for the modified White Racial Identity Attitude Scale. Analyses also identified items that may suppress internal consistencies in responding by this sample.
