Theoretical and methodological foundations of the authoritarian personality

He researches the history of social theory, especially Critical Theory and theories concerning biography and the life course.;2. Peer Scheepers is associate professor of sociology at the University of Nijmegen, the Netherlands. He is responsible for the execution of large-scale longitudinal survey research on social and cultural developments in the Netherlands. Within this framework, he is especially interested in the development and explanation of authoritarianism and ethnocentrism.
Abstract:This article provides a history of the theoretical and methodological contributions, particularly Erich Fromm's, of the sub-syndromes of the concept of authoritarianism and the relationship of his work to the classical study by Adorno, Frenkel-Brunswik, Levinson and Sanford.
