Abstract: | Grandmothers (n = 177) and grandfathers (n = 105) completed mail questionnaires covering demographic and family background, and grandparenting satisfaction and perceived responsibilities (disciplining, caretaking, helping, advising). Grandmothers' satisfaction scores significantly exceeded those of grandfathers, and different variables predicted men's and women's satisfaction scores. Discussion focuses on possible sources of these gender differences, and consequences of these differences for further research. |
