Abstract: | M agnussen S. Enhancement of figure reversal rate in intermittent light. Scand. J. Psychol ., 1972, 13 , 61–65.—The reversal rate of an ambiguous visual figure viewed in intermittent light increased with rate of intermittency up to a culminating point, whereafter it gradually fell off to the base level (steady light). The similarity between these results and the Brücke-Bartley effect (enhancement of apparent brightness at lower flicker rates) is pointed out, and the possibility of a common physiological basis for the two phenomena is suggested. |
