Abstract: | This paper examines some of the uses of humour in psychotherapy. Literature is reviewed and clinical examples given to illustrate how patients and therapists may be affected by humour. The conclusion reached is that using humour does not make our work less serious, but may in fact help the patient to become more integrated and more spontaneous in his relationships. |
