目标词效价对思维压制即刻激活效应的影响

思维压制指的是个体有意识、有目的地将某一目标思维从意识中移除的心理过程。压制某目标思维会产生矛盾效应,即试图压制反而会激活被压制目标。本研究采用思维压制的即刻测量(online measure)范式,通过两个实验对压制是否会产生即刻激活效应(immediate enhancement effect)以及目标词效价如何影响该效应进行了检验。结果发现:压制负性词时出现了即刻激活效应,而压制正性词时并未出现上述效应。由此推论,被压制目标词的威胁性,可能是影响即刻激活效应是否出现的一个因素。

The Influence of Suppressed Material's Valence on Immediate Enhancement Effect

Thought suppression means that individuals try to remove the specific thought from consciousness intentionally. Previous research has demonstrated its paradoxical effect in that thought suppression,contrary to its original intention,generally activates the suppressed material.The present study examines the immediate enhancement effect of thought suppression by adopting Page＇ s online measure paradigm.In two experiments, we examined whether the immediate enhancement effect appeared when negative or positive personality adjectives were suppressed.The result showed：（1） The immediate enhancement effect was observed when negative words were suppressed,which was consistent with the previous research,which means it was difficult to suppress negative materials. （2） No immediate enhancement effect occurred when positive material was suppressed.The findings suggest that suppression actually activates the suppressed material. Furthermore,whether the immediate enhancement effect emerges or not depends on the nature of suppressed material,the negative material isn＇t suppressed for their threatening nature,and the positive one tends to be suppressed because people are not inclined to suppress it in daily life.
