Substance Abuse Prevention and Intervention: An Expanded Perspective for Counselors

A successful “war” on alcohol and other drug abuse must include the cooperative efforts of counselors and other helping professionals. Such cooperation begins first among the professional counselors themselves. What is required is an expanded view of the roles that counselors have in targeting this social issue and an appreciation of the many services necessary to win the war.
