Single Dose Medication to Create a Self Model Film
Abstract:An example of videotaped "self modeling" which capitalizes in a unusual way on the effects of a single dose of medication is presented. A single dose of diazepam induced clearly observable one-time changes in a socially withdrawn 5-year-old boy. These behaviors were captured on videotape and subsequently replayed to the subject for succcessful therapeutic self-modeling. Multiple baseline data suggest that neither medication nor self modeling alone would have been sufficient for lasting changes in verbal behavior. This unusual combination of procedures requires further research into its application in other situations.
