Multicultural Issues in the Delivery of Group Interventions |
| |
Abstract: | Innovative preventive interventions are increasingly delivered in small group settings to children in school who are at risk for a variety of negative outcomes. In addition to reducing children's risk, these interventions present the possibility of enhancing students' awareness and understanding of cross-ethnic peers. To be effective with children from diverse ethnic backgrounds, these programs must examine their underlying assumptions regarding the definitions of social competence and methods of behavior change, tailor the program for each ethnic group served, and examine the impact of the interventions across different domains of the children's life. |
