Abstract: | Effective occupational therapy intervention depends on adequate occupational therapy evaluation. First, this article describes the syndrome of autism and surveys formal methods currently available for evaluating autistic clients. Prominent advantages and disadvantages of the surveyed methods are summarized. Secondly, it describes informal methods for use in the occupational therapy evaluation of autistic children. Finally, a format for a unified evaluation summary organized around the concept of the whole person is presented. |
