A Review of Researches on Creativtiy and Attention

Creativity is commonly defined as the novel and useful combination of mental elements previously thought to be unrelated. As an elemental mental processing, attention can increase the likelihood that remote associates will be accessed and play an important role in mechanisms that allow for focused tests of solution appropriateness. The article first introduced the correlative studies between creativity and attention patterns, discussed the theoretically different roles of defocused attention and focused attention in creative concept and ideas. Some problems pertaining to studies in this field were highlighted, and new orientation discussed.
