Anger and Gender: Theory,Research, and Implications

The idea that women and men differ significantly in the experience and expression of anger continues to be a popular one in the psychological and counseling literature, even though there is little empirical support for it. In this article the author examines theoretical perspectives on female and male anger and provides a review of studies that have explored anger as a function of gender. Implications for research and practice are discussed.
