| Abstract: | Islet transplantation offers the potential to improve glycemic control in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus,but the application of islet transplantation to patients proved to be difficult to clinical treatment before 2000.The most successful pancreatic islet transplantation was established from Edmonton Protocol,then the islet transplantation was widely used for the type 1 diabetes treatment.There were many clinical experiences and research reports about islet transplantation.Now,11 years later,the attitude to the application of this technology is more circumspect and scientific.Nonetheless,the facts remain： the islet transplantation is a very important treatment for patients with diabetes mellitus. |
