The Understanding and Thinking in Adverse Events of Targeted Anticancer Drugs

The emergence of new targeted anticaneer therapies promises more efficient and less toxic therapies. Clinical benefits from these novel therapeutic strategies are striking for patients with metastatic diseases. Generally, they are well tolerated, toxicities are commonly mild to moderate and can be handled rapidly. However, if most of these adverse events are manageable, life threatening and fatat complications can still occur. To better guide work of clinical practice this review analyses the main toxicities and safety data among most common targeted therapies in solid tumors treatment. Data are organized through the pathways targeted by the drugs.
