| Abstract: | β-cell dysfunction is one of the pathogenetic factors in type 2 diabetes mellitus, while current treatment offers limited protection for β--cell. According to recent study,ineretin can improves β--cell function without side effects such as hypoglycemia and weight gain. It will be a new option for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. This work reviewed publications regarding to β--cell function of type 2 diabetes mellitus and the potential of traditional and newer therapies for protecting β--cell and to delay the progression of this disease. |
